The Ministry of Defense announced today, Friday, the arrest of 10 drug and arms dealers in the governorates of Babylon, Diwaniyah, Karbala and Najaf. The Ministry said in a statement: "Under the direction and supervision of the Minister of Defense, Thabet Al-Abbasi, as part of the continued implementation of qualitative operations by the heroes of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense, elements wanted by the Iraqi judiciary were pursued. With precise intelligence efforts, the detachments of the aforementioned directorate were able to overthrow (7) drug dealers and promoters, and three others who trade in weapons and ammunition, red-handed, in the governorates of Babylon, Diwaniyah, Karbala and Najaf, with judicial warrants issued against them in accordance with the provisions of Articles (28 Drugs, 24 Weapons), and various narcotic substances, light and medium weapons, ammunition and hand grenades were seized in their possession." The statement added: "Legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to the relevant authorities in accordance with the law." Source: National Iraqi News Agency
