Doha: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit Papua New Guinea, with its epicenter located 53 kilometers from the city of Angoram, at a depth of 135.1 kilometers.
According to Qatar News Agency, no casualties or damage have been reported following the seismic event. Papua New Guinea’s vulnerability to earthquakes is attributed to its position along the Ring of Fire, a seismically active zone encircling the Pacific Ocean that is responsible for the majority of the world’s earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
