Skwentna: An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck the Skwentna area of the US State of Alaska, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Saturday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the quake struck at a depth of 200 meters. There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.

Alaska was also hit by a magnitude 4.9 earthquake on Sunday. The state lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active zone where tectonic plates meet and interact, making it prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity.
