The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said that a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Mindanao in the Philippines Thursday. The centre explained that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 630 km. The Philippines is witnessing increasing volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific Ocean, where tectonic plates intersect. Source: Qatar News Agency
