The Parliamentary Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Media Committee voted on the second reading report of the draft law on the right to access information and submitted it to the Presidency of the Council to be included in the agenda of the upcoming sessions. During the regular meeting today, Saturday, the Chairman ( of Age) of the Committee, MP Farouk Hanna, called on the judiciary and the Ministry of Interior to provide fair retribution against the attacker against MP Muhammad Anouz in Najaf Governorate, to reduce the phenomenon of assault on representatives of the people, and to end that phenomenon. The committee also discussed the issue of appointing the Board of Trustees of the Media Network and reviewing some of the employees' complaints, and decided to approach the Presidency of Parliament to take legal measures, put an end to the problems occurring within the network, intensify monitoring of performance, appointments, decisions and actions taken against them, and oblige the Board of Trustees and the network director to adhere to the applicable law in order to preserve the independence of the network through the committee exercising its oversight role because it is an independent body affiliated with the House of Representatives and the committee specifically, and not to any other authority, and setting a special meeting to consider other network issues, in which the committee will have a role in reducing incorrect procedures.
