Doha: Al Sadd club officially announced Thursday the signing of Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli on a three-season contract, joining from Italian club Lazio. The reigning league champions stated in an official announcement on their social media platforms that the 31-year-old Italian defender signed his contract with the club through the summer of 2029. According to Qatar News Agency, Romagnoli is considered one of the most experienced players in Italian football, having previously won the Serie A title with AC Milan in the 2021-2022 season, in addition to playing for Roma and Sampdoria. Immediately after signing his transfer contract with Al Sadd, the player joined the football team in preparation to participate in this season's league matches, the AFC Champions League Elite, and other competitions contested by the team. Al Sadd currently leads the Qatari Football League standings (Doha Bank Stars League) with six points from two victories and will face Al Gharafa in the third round of the competition thi s coming Saturday.
