Doha: Al Sadd, the Qatar Stars League champions, were crowned Al-Ahrar Cup winners after beating Algerian champions Mouloudia Club of Algiers (MC Alger) 2-0 in a friendly at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium as part of their preparations for the 2026-27 season. According to Qatar News Agency, Yousef Abdelrazzaq opened the scoring for Al Sadd in the 54th minute before Hassan Al Haydos doubled the lead in the 74th, while Al Sadd's Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino missed a penalty in the 66th minute. It was Al Sadd's second consecutive Al-Ahrar Cup title, after they won the inaugural edition last year by beating Moroccan visitors Wydad 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation. The match was part of the club's preparations for the new season, with Al Sadd set to begin their title defense on Aug. 22 against Al Ahli at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in the opening round of the Doha Bank Stars League.
