Arab League: Relentless Israeli Abuses Deepen Humanitarian Crisis in Occupied Palestine

The arab league has said it is profoundly alarmed by the relentless israeli abuses in the occupied palestinian territory without accountability. in a statement marking the first anniversary of the israeli strike on nasser hospital in khan younis that killed five palestinian journalists:ased order and its enforcement, thereby impairing confidence in the international system.

According to Qatar News Agency, after one year of this painful incident in Khan Younis, the continuation of the Israeli violations lays bare the policies and actions that endanger the lives of civilians and those operating in the media field, the statement warned, stressing the importance of protecting journalists and ensuring accountability for abuses against them.

The statement noted that the persistent targeting of civilians, journalists, and humanitarian institutions vitiates the protection rules under international law, contending that this approach extends to international and humanitarian institutions operating in the occupied territory.

The bloc expressed its condemnation of the Israeli measures intended to evict and level UNRWA-run facilities in Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem. Targeting UNRWA's facilities is a direct assault on the operation of a UN agency that undertakes a fundamental role in assisting refugees, the statement stressed, clarifying that this action conspicuously runs contrary to the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) Advisory Opinion on the obligation to respect the work of the United Nations and its agencies and facilitate the performance of their functions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The bloc further emphasized that undermining humanitarian action, coupled with the ongoing throttling of life-saving aid access to the Gaza enclave, has adverse implications for civilian livelihoods, particularly those of children, as corroborated by recent UNICEF data on the aggravation of malnutrition among Gaza children. As such, the League stressed the importance of surging sufficient humanitarian aid into Gaza in a more sustainable manner, opening crossings, and expanding the humanitarian space.
