Doha: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that he will discuss with US President Donald Trump the tariffs recently imposed by the US on Australian imports, stressing that his government will continue to seek their cancellation. Albanese said on Australian television that his country would raise the issue at all levels in its relations with the US, adding that the government had already begun making contacts on the matter. According to Qatar News Agency, on Friday, the US imposed new tariffs on imports from 60 trading partners and accused those countries of not taking sufficient action to curb trade in products manufactured with forced labor, as temporary tariffs of 10% expired. Under the new measures, Australian imports are subject to a 12.5% tariff, along with imports from 37 other countries, while 17 countries are subject to a 10% tariff, and five other countries face varying tariffs. The Australian government described these fees as "unjustified," confirming that it would continue its ef forts to have them canceled through diplomatic channels.
