Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Wednesday with Sheikh Hasina Wajid, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajid, who is currently visiting China. During the meeting, the two sides announced that relations between the two countries would be upgraded to the level of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The Chinese President said that his country seeks to deepen cooperation with Bangladesh within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative in various fields and to promote the steady and long-term development of the comprehensive partnership. For her part, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh expressed her country's keenness to expand cooperation with China in the fields of economy, trade, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges in the field of youth and culture.
