Jorhat: Five Indian soldiers were killed Saturday when an Antonov An-32 military transport aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force crashed while landing at Jorhat Air Base in northeastern India.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Indian military stated that the Indian Air Force regrets the death of five of its personnel in the Jorhat accident. The military added that an investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the crash.

Indian media reported that thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from inside the air base following the accident.
