Abu dhabi: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari engaged Monday in the plenary session at the third edition of the Hili Forum 2026, convened in Abu Dhabi under the theme "Gulf at Crossroads: Conflict, Consequences and Course Correction".

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ansari tackled the evolving situation in the Gulf and its implications for global security and stability during a plenary panel on "Gulf Regional Security Complexes". He pointed out that the fallout from the current crisis extends beyond the region, impacting energy, commerce, maritime navigation, and international supply chains.

Dr. Al Ansari emphasized that the war has tested the alignment of regional countries in assessing shared threats, highlighting the importance of transforming this recognition into collective action. He remarked that Gulf security is a shared responsibility, urging countries to remain integral partners in shaping future security arrangements.

He addressed the broader implications of closing the Strait of Hormuz and disrupting navigation, warning against weaponizing critical waterways. Dr. Al Ansari stressed the need for effective deterrence to prevent trade and maritime traffic disruptions.

Highlighting the primary threat of normalizing ongoing regional events, Dr. Al Ansari stressed that a lack of international accountability encourages violations and erodes global security and stability systems. He noted recent developments have exposed the regional security structure's fragility, underscoring the need for a resilient system built on collective security, diplomacy, and economic interdependence.

Dr. Al Ansari praised Qatar's mediation expertise and efforts to promote dialogue and peaceful conflict resolutions. He emphasized that mediation success depends on the parties' political will and shared interest in resolution.

He concluded by stating that addressing current challenges requires shared regional and international responsibility, as events in the Gulf affect the entire world.
