Our defenses are very weak, and we are not prepared to fight and win in an armed conflict of any size,' he added, adding that 'in any large-scale operation, ammunition will quickly run out,' according to the British newspaper 'Financial Times.' He explained, "British air defenses are 'insufficient' to stop long-range missile attacks, and the Royal Navy lacks enough ships to patrol the North Atlantic Ocean to monitor and deter Russian submarine act ivity, and the Royal Air Force needs twice the number of combat aircraft it possesses now". He stressed that he 'decided to issue a public warning because he is 'extremely concerned' about the additional investments that the British army needs, especially to confront the Russian threat,' as he put it.
