Manama: The State of Qatar took part in the 39th Meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC States, convened Sept. 2 in Manama, Bahrain. Representing Qatar at the meeting was HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al Jamal.

According to Qatar News Agency, Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers expressed gratitude for Qatar's initiative, represented by the Ministry, in launching the Youth Creativity Award in the World of Data. The award, organized entirely by Qatar, aims to foster the participation of Gulf youth and encourage innovation in data domains. The success of the award was acknowledged, and it has been approved as a shared Gulf initiative, with plans to consistently organize it as part of the joint Gulf action plan. The award's scope is set to expand, incorporating paths related to emerging technologies such as generative AI and data-related cybersecurity.

The ministers debated various agenda items, including the Future Action Plan of the Committee of Ministers of Youth and Sports of the GCC States for 2025-2030. The discussion also covered executive plans in line with updates for the current and future phases, GCC nations' perspectives, recommendations of technical panels, and opportunities to strengthen partnerships with the private sector.

The meeting explored potential cooperation areas and strategic dialogues with youth-relevant nations, as well as regional and international organizations. An array of recommendations prepared by the 42nd Preparatory Meeting of Their Excellencies Undersecretaries of Ministries of Youth and Sports in the GCC States, which convened virtually, was also discussed. Some recommendations received approval, leading to decisions aimed at promoting joint Gulf youth action and enhancing coordination and integration among GCC nations.
