Iraq participated in the meetings of the 106th session of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which was held at the organization's headquarters in The Hague during the period from 9 to 12 July, with a delegation headed by Iraq's representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Minister Plenipotentiary Ali Al-Hadi. According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iraq submitted its national statement, in which it thanked the Director-General of the Organization, Ambassador Fernando Ayres, for the briefing he provided, stressing its support for the statement delivered by Uganda on behalf of the Group of Non-Aligned Movement countries and China. Regarding the current events in Gaza, Iraq supported in its statement the request of the delegation of the State of Palestine submitted to the Technical Secretariat to monitor and investigate the potential use and threat of use of chemical weapons by the occupying power.
