Doha: Israeli occupation forces renewed incursions into southern Syria Friday, entering Ofaniya village in the Quneitra countryside, setting up a checkpoint, and searching passersby.

According to Qatar News Agency, the latest incursion follows a pattern of increased military activity in the region. Yesterday, occupation forces fired mortar shells near Bat Al Warda hill in the Damascus countryside and invaded Um Batina and Ofaniya in Quneitra with military vehicles to establish temporary checkpoints.

In recent weeks, tensions have escalated as Israeli forces have increased their presence in southern Syria. On September 1, forces abducted a young man west of Al Rafid in southern Quneitra, while ten military vehicles entered Jamla village in the Daraa countryside. These actions have been part of a series of operations that have contributed to the growing unrest in the area.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has documented a significant number of incursions, with 65 recorded in July and 52 in early August. Since January, there have been 147 detentions, with 49 individuals still in custody. Additionally, there have been multiple home raids in the Quneitra and Damascus countryside, exacerbating the situation.
