Israeli Occupation Renews Administrative Detention Orders for 33 Palestinian Prisoners

Jerusalem: Israeli occupation authorities on Monday renewed administrative detention orders against 33 Palestinian prisoners held across Israeli prisons and detention centers. This action continues to highlight the ongoing use of administrative detention, a controversial measure that has drawn criticism from international human rights organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club issued a joint statement on Monday. The statement emphasized the escalation in the use of administrative detention by the Israeli authorities, often justified by undisclosed evidence in what is referred to as a secret file. As of last May, the number of Palestinians held under administrative detention reached 3,376.

Administrative detention is a process that allows imprisonment without formal charges or trials, effectively denying detainees and their legal representatives access to the evidence used against them. This practice has been widely criticized as a violation of international humanitarian law, as it circumvents the legal protections typically afforded to individuals under detention. The recent renewals of detention orders further exacerbate tensions and highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinian prisoners.
