New York:Prime Minister Nawaf Salam of Lebanon, together with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica and UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo, chaired a significant meeting titled Moving Beyond Crisis.

According to Qatar News Agency, this meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly at the joint invitation of Lebanon, the European Union, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The gathering focused on creating an effective international strategy to address ongoing crises, leveraging Lebanon's experiences during the war in the south. Discussions centered on enhancing the state's role and institutions in leading response and recovery efforts.

Participants emphasized the importance of international support directed towards strengthening Lebanon's capacities, avoiding the establishment of parallel systems. They also discussed the need for flexible funding to facilitate the shift from emergency response to sustainable recovery and reconstruction.

Prime Minister Salam highlighted that overcoming Lebanon's crisis is not just a theoretical concept but a current reality. He underscored the lessons learned from Lebanon's situation, applicable beyond its borders, as crises are increasingly longer, frequent, and interconnected. Amidst the ongoing conflict in the south, Lebanon continues to support displaced families, rebuild infrastructure, and aid in the return of people to their communities, fostering recovery and reconstruction.
