Zawiya: The General Electricity Company of Libya announced that an attack on the South Zawiya substation resulted in a complete power outage across large areas of the southern part of Zawiya city.

According to Qatar News Agency, the company released a statement on Facebook, detailing that the 30/11 kV substation in the south of Zawiya was targeted, which led to a fire, rendering the substation out of service and cutting off electricity supply to significant areas south of the city.

The company issued a warning about the risks associated with ongoing attacks on electricity-grid facilities, emphasizing the potential impact on the national grid's stability. It highlighted that further loss of substations, transmission lines, and other infrastructure could lead to extensive disruptions and possibly a partial or complete shutdown of the grid.

It further noted that the recent security disturbances in Zawiya have directly affected the electricity sector, causing significant damage to several grid facilities and components. The company reiterated that it would not be liable for any grid-related consequences or interruptions in electricity supply due to continued assaults on its facilities or the inability to safely conduct maintenance and operations.

Additionally, Libya National Oil Corporation reported that emergency and safety teams successfully controlled fires in various fuel tanks at the Zawiya Oil Complex sooner than expected, following drone attacks with explosives.
