Doha: Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized on Monday, in cooperation with United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, a four-day regional training program on interaction with international human rights mechanisms, with the participation of a group of diplomats, as well as those concerned with the State of Qatar and the GCC countries, and representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council, at the Diplomatic Club. The training program aims to enhance the knowledge of diplomats and those concerned with the Arab Gulf states and representatives of the General Secretariat of GCC, of the United Nations human rights mechanisms and international instruments and to enhance the interaction of states with international human rights mechanisms. HE Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said that the primary goal of the training program is to establish human r ights in diplomatic work and enhance the capabilities of diplomats and those concerned with interacting with international human rights mechanisms and the UN system. His Excellency pointed out that the training program includes several basic topics related to international human rights mechanisms, including: concepts, principles, standards and system of the international human rights, international human rights mechanisms, and guidelines for preparing, writing, and submitting reports before international human rights mechanisms, in addition to implementing human rights indicators to measure the implementation of recommendations and progress achieved in the field of human rights. The training program also includes the topic of database of human rights recommendations, national human rights plans, and national plans to implement recommendations issued by international human rights mechanisms, he added.
