Doha:The Ministry of Labour closed 388 work sites from June 1 to September 15, 2026, due to non-compliance with Ministerial Decision No. 17 of 2021, which mandates precautions to protect workers from heat stress during the summer work ban.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry emphasized that these actions aimed to safeguard workers, enhance Occupational Safety and Health standards, and ensure adherence to labour laws. This aligns with the Ministry's strategic goals and Qatar National Vision 2030, which focus on creating a safe and sustainable work environment.

The Occupational Safety and Health Department conducted thorough inspections to ensure compliance with the decision, especially during peak heat hours. Non-compliant sites faced a three-day closure and legal action in line with established procedures.

The Ministry also aims to raise awareness by publishing inspection results, encouraging both employers and workers to understand the importance of compliance and promote a culture of prevention and shared responsibility.

The ongoing efforts are part of the 2026 Heat Stress Prevention Campaign, which ran from June 1 to September 15, 2026. This campaign, in collaboration with government and private-sector partners, included awareness and inspection programs to improve understanding of preventive measures and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
