Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in cooperation with the General Authority for Competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized a virtual workshop on the pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions. This event is part of the efforts to implement the memorandum of understanding signed between both parties, aiming to enhance cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge in competition law.

According to Qatar News Agency, a statement from MOCI highlighted that the workshop was organized by the Competition Protection Department at MOCI in collaboration with the Saudi General Authority for Competition. The workshop focused on several topics to improve understanding of the risks associated with the pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions. It also clarified the dividing lines between legitimate preparatory procedures and prohibited pre-implementation, contributing to greater compliance with competition rules during the pre-approval phase.

The workshop featured a presentation on the legal framework regulating economic concentration transactions in the State of Qatar. Furthermore, it included discussions on various relevant international and Gulf issues and experiences. This initiative forms part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's broader efforts to enhance cooperation and exchange technical expertise with specialized bodies, thereby spreading knowledge and improving efficiency in the field of competition law.
