NATO to Reduce Kosovo Peacekeeping Force

Brussels: NATO announced plans to gradually reduce troop levels in its Kosovo peacekeeping mission, highlighting improved security conditions in the region. Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich emphasized that the current environment offers an opportunity to optimize the size and deployment of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission.

According to Qatar News Agency, NATO has outlined that the reduction will be executed carefully and progressively, ensuring that the decision remains flexible and can be reversed if the situation on the ground necessitates it. The KFOR mission, which currently comprises approximately 4,600 troops, has been stationed in Kosovo since the conclusion of the 1998-1999 conflict.
