Baghdad: President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg stressed strengthening Austria's relations with Iraq in the economic and commercial fields. This came during their meeting in the capital, Vienna, where they discussed strengthening Austria's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially in the economic and commercial fields, and shed light on the political situations in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and Austria's role within the framework of the international coalition to eliminate ISIS. The two sides discussed "raising the level of Austria's representation in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, the conditions of the displaced and refugees in the Kurdistan Region, the dangers of ISIS, immigration, and a group of issues of common interest," according to a statement by the Kurdistan Region. Nechirvan Barzani arrived yesterday, Monday, in the capital Vienna on an official visit during which he will meet with the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, and discuss with them opportunities and areas for strengthening Austria's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides.
