Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad congratulated Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on his winning in the Algerian presidential election. President al-Assad said in a congratulatory cable that 'Your well-deserved victory is the best evidence of the Algerian people's confidence in you and your wisdom in approaching the dangerous events that are storming the world today, and your ability to preserve and protect your country without abandoning the principles and independent positions that truly distinguish Algeria.' President al-Assad pointed out the distinguished relations binding Syria and Algeria, adding that brotherhood is not the only common denominator between the two peoples, but rather principles and values rooted in them. President al-Assad said that 'We highly appreciate the Arab role of the brotherly country of Algeria and its support and defense of just and fair causes.' President al-Assad said that 'The Syrian people will always remember Algeria's honorable support for them in the terroris t war they were exposed to, and we will continue to work with you to develop bilateral cooperation to the level that is in the real interest to the two brotherly peoples.
