Doha: Qatar's Public Prosecution, represented by the Criminal Studies Institute, has organized a specialized training course on juvenile justice in light of international standards, in cooperation with the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights in Italy.

According to Qatar News Agency, the four-day course is being held at the Public Prosecution's headquarters in Doha and brings together 25 members of the Public Prosecution. The training program addresses a range of legal and human rights issues related to juvenile justice, focusing on the concept of juvenile criminal justice and different legal frameworks. It further examines mechanisms for protecting children at various stages, whether they are victims, offenders, or at risk.

The program delves into legal safeguards during investigations and trials, alternatives to traditional penal measures, non-custodial measures, and standards for institutional reform. It also explores the roles of the Public Prosecution, judiciary, and civil society organizations in advancing juvenile justice in line with the latest regional and international frameworks.

This course is part of the Public Prosecution's efforts to develop the capabilities of its legal personnel, strengthen cooperation with leading international institutes, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and international best practices. The initiative aims to enhance participants' practical and theoretical skills to improve the quality and efficiency of investigations. It supports the timely resolution of juvenile cases, promoting human rights and ensuring legal protection that safeguards juveniles' best interests and dignity.
