Doha: President of Pre-University Education (PUE) at Qatar Foundation (QF), Abeer Al Khalifa, affirmed that PUE schools and education centers are fully prepared for the 2026-2027 academic year, ready to welcome 9,400 students.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Khalifa emphasized that preparations for the new academic year were executed through an integrated institutional process involving planning, policies, educational content, and operational readiness to ensure a smooth start. PUE's network comprises 15 schools and education centers serving 9,434 students from 56 nationalities, with Qatari students constituting more than 92 percent of the total student population.
A total of 1,197 students have newly enrolled this year, including in pre-kindergarten programs, Awsaj Academy's Prime Program, and the Academic Bridge Program. Additionally, 833 students have joined the regular academic stages. The diverse workforce of PUE includes 950 teachers and learning leaders among its 1,885 employees, representing 70 nationalities, with 1,731 employees engaged in direct teaching and educational roles.
Al Khalifa stated that preparations focused on four core areas: school planning with performance assessments, policy reviews with updates such as a mobile-phone-free policy, educational content development including Qatar Academy Sidra's new building and an Arabic-language assessment tool, and operational readiness.
To enhance educational and leadership capabilities, three main priorities were addressed: school leadership appointments, professional development for teaching staff, and linking professional development to performance metrics. An event was organized to align the vision and priorities among approximately 100 education sector leaders.
Al Khalifa noted that 950 teachers underwent training in three areas: digital literacy with artificial intelligence and assessment redesign, research-based inclusive practices through the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and strengthening Arabic-language quality and identity.
Qatar Foundation's school network's readiness is supported by clear indicators and evidence, enabling a structured start to the academic year with defined success criteria. PUE is refining its institutional measurement framework through academic achievement and stakeholder perception indicators.
To ensure balanced student distribution and manage classroom density, QF employs four interconnected mechanisms: a centralized admissions system, capacity planning, offering diverse educational options, and continuous monitoring of classroom density. These measures involve inaugurating Qatar Academy Sidra's new building and managing waiting lists centrally, ensuring optimal educational paths for students across the network.
