New York:Qatar: Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and Aethon International QFZ LLC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring opportunities in advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation. This agreement includes the establishment of a regional manufacturing hub in Qatar's free zones.
According to Qatar News Agency, the signing of the MoU took place on the sidelines of QEF: UNGA Special Edition 2026 in New York. The event was attended by HE Chief Executive Officer of QFZ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani and founder of Aethon International QFZ LLC Gordon Huddleston, along with senior representatives from both organizations.
The MoU aims to create a regional hub for manufacturing high-performance, corrosion-resistant pipes to meet the increasing demand in energy and infrastructure sectors in Qatar and the surrounding region. Additionally, it sets the stage for an innovation center in Qatar's free zones, focused on developing new applications for advanced piping solutions in strategic industries.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani emphasized that the agreement highlights Qatar's growing significance as a base for advanced manufacturing to serve regional demand. He noted that QFZ provides the infrastructure, connectivity, and business ecosystem necessary to support the country's ambitions for a resilient and globally competitive industrial economy.
The partnership also aims to develop the local ecosystem by collaborating with partners, suppliers, research institutions, and academia, thereby enhancing local capabilities and nurturing Qatari talent. The parties will explore opportunities to introduce Falcon Pipe Industries' expertise to key markets.
Gordon Huddleston, founder of Aethon International, remarked that Qatar offers a unique opportunity to build advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet the rising demand in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He highlighted QFZ's strategic location and access to regional markets as advantageous for developing this vision and fostering innovation, local capability-building, and long-term growth.
This collaboration underscores the important role of Qatar's free zones in enabling specialized industrial activities with regional significance, contributing to the country's industrial base and participation in high-value sectors.
