Qatar and Benin Sign Six Key Agreements to Boost Bilateral Ties

Doha: The State of Qatar and the Republic of Benin signed six joint cooperation agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday, during the working visit of HE President of the Republic of Benin Patrice Talon to the country. These agreements are aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two nations in a variety of fields.

According to Qatar News Agency, the signed agreements and MoUs encompass several key areas: an agreement to exempt diplomatic and special passport holders from visa requirements; an MoU to establish a mechanism for political and diplomatic consultations; an MoU between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Benin’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries focusing on agriculture and food security; a cooperation agreement in education, higher education, and scientific research; an MoU on the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates; and an MoU for cooperation in tourism and business events.

In particular, the agreement on visa exemptions and the MoU on political and diplomatic consultations were signed by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Benin Olushegun Adjadi Bakari. Additionally, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi collaborated with HE Beninese Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance Romuald Wadagni to sign the MoU on agriculture and food security.

In the educational sector, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater and HE Beninese Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance Romuald Wadagni signed the cooperation agreement covering education, higher education, and scientific research. The MoU on the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates was signed by HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Benin Olushegun Adjadi Bakari.

Furthermore, HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism Saad bin Ali bin Saad Al Kharji and HE Beninese Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance Romuald Wadagni signed the MoU to enhance cooperation in tourism and business events.
