Qatar: Qatar's men's national basketball team is intensifying training ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, scheduled from September 19 to October 4 in Japan. Set to compete in Group B alongside Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei, Qatar kicks off its 5x5 basketball campaign on September 10 against Iran in Nagoya. The team will face Jordan on September 12 before closing the group stage against Chinese Taipei on September 13. According to Qatar News Agency, Group A features Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, while Group C includes China, the Philippines, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan. The quarter-finals take place on September 16, followed by the semi-finals on September 18, culminating in the medal games on September 20. Qatar brings a strong legacy to the tournament, highlighted by its landmark 2006 FIBA World Cup appearance in Japan, back-to-back Asian Cup bronze medals in 2003 and 2005, and the 2004 FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup title.
