Doha:The weekly Cabinet meeting in Qatar was chaired by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, at the Amiri Diwan.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, conveyed the Cabinet's praise for the speech delivered by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the United Nations General Assembly. The Cabinet emphasized the significant messages in the Amir's speech, reflecting Qatar's principles and positions both domestically and internationally. The Amir's reaffirmation of Qatar's active role in regional and international issues and commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes was also highlighted.

The Cabinet commended the Amir's call for a regional collective security system respecting sovereignty and promoting peaceful dispute resolution. It also strongly condemned the Houthi group's drone attack on Makkah, describing it as a grave provocation against Muslims worldwide. Additionally, the Cabinet denounced the attacks on Taif Governorate, Riyadh, and other Saudi cities, expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to protect its sovereignty and security.

In legislative matters, the Cabinet approved a draft law on international road transport among GCC states, aiming to enhance road safety and economic integration. Draft implementing decisions for the regulation of travel and air cargo agencies were also approved to improve service efficiency and customer rights.

Further, the Cabinet approved a strategic cooperation agreement with Albania and reviewed several reports, including annual reports on competition protection and achievements of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, as well as outcomes from recent international engagements.
