New York:The State of Qatar actively participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism, which took place alongside the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar was represented by Her Excellency Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She highlighted the need to renew international commitment to the rights of victims and survivors of terrorism, advocating for their resilience and recovery. She stressed the importance of empowering them to share their voices and experiences in international forums.

Her Excellency praised the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism for its role in providing tangible support and technical assistance to member states. She specifically mentioned the Global Programme on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism, which operates through the UNOCT Programme Office in Doha, as a key initiative in raising parliamentary awareness about the challenges faced by terrorism victims and in supporting their rights and needs.

She also noted that Qatar's national strategies are in line with international priorities in combating terrorism, aligning with the four pillars of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. Her Excellency reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to the efforts of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism in promoting and supporting the rights of victims and survivors.
