Qatar Participates in GCC Zakat Authorities’ Virtual Meeting

Doha: The State of Qatar, through its Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, took part in the 18th specialist committee meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member state Zakat authorities. The meeting was conducted via videoconference on Tuesday, aiming to bolster cooperation and coordination among the GCC Zakat authorities, facilitate the exchange of institutional expertise, and discuss joint initiatives for the development of the Zakat system in alignment with digital transformation and service quality enhancement.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting saw the participation of Ahmed Jaber Al Jarbouei, Head of the Zakat Services Section, representing the Ministry. Participants deliberated on various agenda items, with a significant focus on projects designed to promote knowledge sharing, and the exchange of expertise and best practices. The discussions also covered joint Gulf initiatives aimed at synchronizing media and awareness-raising efforts, implementing programs to educate the public about Zakat, its objectives, and its societal impact, while promoting a culture of social responsibility.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs reiterated that the involvement of the Zakat Affairs Department in the committee meeting is a testament to its commitment to contributing to joint Gulf initiatives and enhancing cooperation among GCC member state Zakat authorities. This participation is crucial in adapting to the rapid developments in digital transformation and achieving institutional excellence.

The Ministry emphasized that the Zakat Affairs Department is dedicated to engaging in GCC-level specialist committee meetings, driven by the belief that collaborative efforts are essential for advancing Zakat services, sharing expertise, and planning future strategies to improve operational efficiency and uphold the highest standards of quality and excellence.
