Amman: The Qatar U-19 handball team will face its Saudi counterpart on Thursday, in the opening round of Group B at the Asian U-19 Handball Championship, hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, from August 20 to 31.

According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament draw placed the Qatar team in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, and Syria. The Qatar team seeks to secure victory in its opening match before facing Kuwait on Friday in the second round. They will then play Iran in the third round next Sunday, before concluding the group stage against Syria on August 24.

Qatar U-19 head coach Khaled Hassan has selected a squad of 18 players for the tournament. The team comprises Rami Mahrous Azzouz, Yousef Ahmed, Yousef Emad Hussein, Alan Mohammed Al Mubarak, Muath Hisham Mahfouz, Mohammed Abdulkhaliq Farhat, Abdullah Salah Hassan, Suhail Faisal Abu Bakr, Mohammed Hisham Khalil, Ahmed Mohammed Shaker, Moamen Abdo, Omar Tarek Fathy, Amanallah Al Ferchichi, Ahmed Anas Khalil, Ahmed Tamer, Yousef Al Sayed Hussein, Abkar Mohammed Taher, and Yassin Abdulrahman.
