Doha:Qatar's 3x3 basketball team has successfully advanced to the semifinals of the 20th Asian Games, currently underway in Japan, by defeating Mongolia 18-14 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar will face Iran in the semifinals. Iran secured its spot with a dominant 21-3 victory over Japan.

Qatar reached the quarterfinals by topping Group C with an unblemished record, achieving three consecutive wins against Indonesia 10-7, Chinese Taipei 18-15, and Bahrain 21-15, before continuing its victory streak by overcoming Mongolia.

In the other semifinal match, the Philippines is set to compete against South Korea. The Philippines progressed by narrowly defeating Chinese Taipei 21-19, while South Korea secured its semifinal berth with a 22-13 win over China.

Qatar aims to maintain its impressive performance in the tournament and earn a place in the final as it vies for a medal.
