Doha: Qatari diplomacy has been lauded on the international stage for its pivotal role in mediating the recent signing of the Declaration of Principles between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Congo River Alliance/March 23 Movement (M23). The Peninsula, an English-language newspaper in Qatar, highlighted this achievement under the headline “Global Praise for Qatar Diplomacy,” noting that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the agreement as a “pathway to peace” and praised Qatar’s crucial facilitation.
According to Qatar News Agency, nations such as the United States, the African Union, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Turkiye, Egypt, and the Gulf Cooperation Council have all acknowledged Qatar’s effective diplomacy. This widespread appreciation highlights Qatar’s growing status as a trusted neutral actor on the global stage. The hosting of these talks and successful mediation efforts underscore Qatar’s increasing influence in conflict resolution and humanitarian diplomacy, further solidifying its reputation as a credible bridge-builder.
In addition to its diplomatic achievements, Qatar’s domestic affairs also reflect significant progress. Qatari daily Al-Raya reported on the country’s economic growth, attributing it to robust economic policies and major development projects. Standard Chartered projects Qatar’s GDP to grow by 4.0% in 2025, with expectations rising to 5.5% in 2026, closely aligning with the International Monetary Fund’s estimate of 5.6%.
Qatar’s economic success is driven by the expansion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector and government policies stimulating investment in infrastructure and non-oil sectors. These efforts have bolstered international investor confidence and enhanced the appeal of the local market to foreign investments. Performance indicators suggest that Qatar’s economy is on track to achieve these growth targets, with real GDP per capita expected to reach approximately USD 110,000 by 2026.
Al-Watan, another Qatari newspaper, highlighted the strides made in Qatar’s healthcare sector, positioning the country among the world’s leading nations in comprehensive healthcare delivery. The editorial titled “High-Quality Care” emphasized Qatar’s establishment of major medical institutions that compete with renowned global healthcare providers and its expanding network of educational and research centers in the medical field.
The healthcare system in Qatar is supported by a skilled national workforce capable of delivering services to high standards. To address extended waiting times at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) facilities, a new partnership agreement with four leading private hospitals was signed, ensuring timely and high-quality care for Qatari patients. HMC will cover all treatment costs related to these referrals, reaffirming the commitment to the health of Qatari citizens and adherence to the latest global standards.
