Moscow: Russia has officially banned the British Council, labeling it an “undesirable organization” while accusing London of being a key player in engineering global crises and promoting warfare.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Russian Prosecutor General charged the British Council with advancing British interests under the pretense of English language education. The Prosecutor General further alleged that the Council conducts various projects aimed at undermining the domestic and international policies of the Russian Federation.
In a statement released by Russian state media, the Federal Security Service (FSB) provided evidence supporting the Prosecutor General’s decision. The FSB accused Britain of being a primary instigator of global crises, responsible for initiating and fueling wars.
The FSB’s statement highlighted that London is allegedly orchestrating coups, aiming to destabilize not only its geopolitical rivals but also its allies. The statement accused Britain of instigating conflicts between countries and obstructing the resolution of conflicts it is accused of initiating.
The diplomatic relationship between Russia and Britain has been strained for years, particularly since Russia’s military action in Ukraine in 2022. The two nations have been engaged in a series of disputes, including mutual allegations of espionage. The situation was further aggravated by the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal on British soil.
