Russian Defense Ministry Conducts Airstrikes on Yuzhny Port Fuel Tanks in Ukraine’s Odesa Region

Odesa: The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its troops carried out airstrikes targeting energy and transportation infrastructure supporting Ukrainian forces. The strikes focused on five fuel and lubricant tanks and infrastructure facilities at the Port of Yuzhny in the Odesa region, which are used for unloading and storing military cargo.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated that units of Russia's "West" group of forces seized strategic forward defensive positions and lines. Additionally, they destroyed troops and equipment belonging to two mechanized brigades and an airborne brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In related developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine had proposed a truce with Russia to halt attacks on vessels transporting agricultural products via the Black Sea. However, Moscow rejected the proposal, seeking assurances following attacks on its infrastructure.

Recent weeks have seen escalating tensions between the two countries, with both sides exchanging attacks on infrastructure and energy facilities. These developments come amidst faltering US-led mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and reopening negotiations.
