Doha: The Scottish Football Association has appointed Belgian Sebastien Pocognoli as the new head coach of the national team, succeeding Steve Clarke. According to Qatar News Agency, the association announced that the 39-year-old Belgian has signed a two-year contract and will lead the Scotland national team, ranked 42nd in the world, in the next UEFA Nations League campaign at League B level, which begins in September. The statement also mentioned that Pocognoli, the former head coach of French club Monaco, will take over from Clarke, who resigned in July following Scotland's group-stage exit from the 2026 World Cup. Pocognoli expressed that he and his coaching staff will strive to give Scottish fans a national team they can be proud of.
