Berlin: Serena Williams will team up with Czech player Karolna Muchova in the women's doubles event at the Berlin Open, which is taking place this week. Williams announced less than two weeks ago that she would come out of retirement to compete in doubles.
According to Qatar News Agency, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion also competed at the Queen's Club Championships in London on Tuesday. She paired with Canada's Victoria Mboko, and they successfully defeated the American duo Nicole Melichar-Martinez and New Zealand's Erin Routliffe in the opening round, with scores of 7-6, 6-2.
However, their campaign at the Queen's Club Championships ended shortly after when Mboko was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. Despite this setback, Williams is expected to compete at The Championships, Wimbledon next month. A potential return to singles competition has not been thoroughly ruled out.
