Cairo: The Shura Council participated in the 43rd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held Sunday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The meeting saw the presence of HE Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Dhabit Al Dosari, a member of the Shura Council and the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, along with HE Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council and Vice-President of the Committee representing the Arab Group at the Union.

According to Qatar News Agency, the committee addressed various items on its agenda, examined reports from specialized committees, and reviewed a report by the General Secretariat on the Union's activities over the past period. A significant topic of discussion was a proposal to amend the voting mechanism for the emergency item at the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly meetings. Additionally, the session explored a proposed initiative to enhance joint parliamentary cooperation within the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The committee also considered a request from the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS Council) to grant observer status to the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. Discussions further included developments regarding the candidacy for the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the emergency item that the Arab Parliamentary Group plans to present at the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Arusha, Tanzania, in October.
