Baghdad, The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today Pedro Martinez Martín, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq, on the occasion of the end of his tenure. During the meeting, the President stressed the necessity of constantly striving to develop bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, praising the efforts made by Mr. Martin in this field, and wishing him success in his upcoming diplomatic missions. The President also sent, through the Ambassador, his greetings to King Felipe VI of Spain and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, praising Spain's principled and firm position on the Palestinian issue, its support for the rights of the Palestinian people, and its constant striving to achieve peace in the region. For his part, the ambassador expressed his thanks and gratitude for the support of the President for his diplomatic efforts while performing his work duties, and stressed his country's keenness to consolidate and advance bilateral relations with Iraq in a wa y that serves the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
