Washington, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order on artificial intelligence (AI) that establishes standards for security and privacy protections, a move the White House says will safeguard Americans' information, promote innovation and competition, and advance US leadership in the industry.

Biden called the executive order "the most significant action any government anywhere in the world has ever taken on AI safety, security and trust," adding "We're going to see more technological change in the next 10, maybe the next five years, than we've seen in the last 50 years." AI provides incredible opportunities, but comes with significant risks, the US President said.
