Jerusalem: Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Sheikh Akramah Sabri has called on the Arab and Islamic nations to diligently unify their efforts to protect Al-Aqsa and all sanctities, as well as endowment property in Jerusalem and all areas across Palestine.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement on Sunday, Sheikh Sabri urged worshippers to head to Al-Aqsa on Tuesday, August 25, to mark the anniversary of the Mosque arson. He emphasized that the arson remains a moment of grief and provocation in the nation's history. Sabri asserted that this event must be commemorated to remind future generations of the assault on the Mosque and to maintain vigilance against ongoing threats.

The preacher highlighted that the commemoration serves as an opportunity to uphold Islamic rights and amplify the voice of Jerusalem globally. He stressed that these rights are non-negotiable and cannot be compromised under any circumstance.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque arson occurred on August 21, 1969, when fire engulfed parts of the Qibli prayer hall and Salah Al-Din Al-Ayyubi's pulpit. Fifty-seven years later, the anniversary is marked amidst growing threats against Al-Aqsa Mosque, including increased incursions by Israeli settlers, stricter restrictions on Muslim worshippers, and attempts to enforce a division of the site under Israeli authority protection.
