Britain Advocates for Strait of Hormuz Reopening and Supports US-Iran Agreement

London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has declared that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened to maritime navigation with unconditional and unrestricted access. Starmer underscored the United Kingdom's commitment to working alongside allies to "seize this moment" to facilitate a lasting resolution in the Middle East.

According to Qatar News Agency, Starmer welcomed the progress toward an agreement between the United States and Iran. He emphasized the necessity of reaching an agreement that not only ends the conflict but also ensures the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz with unrestricted freedom of navigation.

The British prime minister highlighted that the UK would actively collaborate with international partners to take advantage of this opportunity and pursue a long-term diplomatic settlement. The United Kingdom, in cooperation with France, is spearheading efforts to establish an international coalition. This coalition aims to provide necessary assurances and support minesweeping operations once hostilities have ceased.
