Doha: U.S. forces have successfully facilitated the passage of 1 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the past two months, according to Admiral Brad Cooper, the Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM). In addition to the crude oil, over 2,000 commercial vessels were assisted in transiting this critical waterway.

According to Qatar News Agency, an update posted by CENTCOM on its X account on Saturday highlighted that the main transit lanes in the Strait of Hormuz have been demined, allowing thousands of vessels to continue their passage safely. Admiral Cooper emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the United States and its partners to enhance the volume of maritime traffic through the strait. Notably, the recent two-week period has seen the highest volume of oil and cargo transport compared to the previous six months.

In relation to Iran, Admiral Cooper stated that the United States is maintaining a strict blockade on Iranian oil exports, preventing the export of any oil barrels from the country. This measure is part of broader efforts to ensure security and stability in the region's maritime activities.
