Gold Slips to $4287.69 as Oil Gains Strengthen Case for Elevated Interest Rates

New york: Gold fell on Tuesday, as rising crude oil prices heightened inflation worries and reinforced US rate-hike expectations. Spot gold was down 0.2% at $4,287.69 per ounce after hitting its lowest in more than a month in the previous session. US gold futures were down 0.5% at $4,328.10.

According to Qatar News Agency, the fluctuations in the gold market were accompanied by movements in other precious metals. Spot silver fell 0.4% to $62.98, while platinum gained 0.1% at $1,761.12. Palladium, on the other hand, ticked 0.8% lower to $1,282.79.

The dynamics in the precious metals market are closely watched by investors, as changes in prices can indicate broader economic trends. The strengthening oil prices have raised concerns over inflation, potentially leading to higher interest rates in the US, which in turn affects the appeal of non-yielding bullion.
