Lebanese President Aoun Highlights Negotiations with Israel as Preferable to War

Lebanon: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that his country's decision to engage in negotiations with Israel was made to avert the devastation of war. In a statement on Wednesday, Aoun emphasized the complexity and challenges of the negotiations, acknowledging, "Negotiations are neither easy nor quick, and there are obstacles and difficulties, but they remain far better than war."

According to Qatar News Agency, President Aoun outlined several key objectives for Lebanon, including liberating the south, deploying the Army up to the border, recovering prisoners, ensuring the return of residents, and reconstructing affected areas. He asserted that these goals cannot be achieved through war, as history has demonstrated. "There is therefore no option other than negotiations," Aoun added, underscoring the necessity of dialogue over conflict in achieving Lebanon's national objectives.
