Qatar Condemns Renewed Iranian Attacks and Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

Doha: Al-Watan newspaper reported that Qatar has strongly condemned the resumption of military operations between the US and Iran, particularly the renewed Iranian attacks against Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. These actions are viewed as blatant violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the affected nations and a breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of good neighborliness.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement emphasizing that the ongoing aggression by Iran undermines diplomatic efforts and holds Iran fully accountable for the attacks and their consequences. The State of Qatar has expressed full solidarity with the affected countries, supporting all legitimate measures they take to preserve their sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

The editorial in Al-Watan stressed that the continuation of these attacks poses a threat to regional security and stability. The newspaper called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged a return to negotiations to implement the US-Iran memorandum of understanding.

Al-Sharq, another prominent newspaper, highlighted Qatar's commitment to intensive diplomatic efforts amidst rising regional tensions. The paper noted that dialogue and political solutions are seen as the most effective means to contain crises and prevent broader regional conflicts, thereby safeguarding the security and interests of the region and the global economy.

These efforts are particularly crucial following the attack on the Saudi oil tanker "Sidr" in the Strait of Hormuz, an incident that has escalated risks to maritime security. Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of international law and maritime navigation freedom, in breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The Peninsula, an English-language newspaper, also covered Qatar's strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks, noting the incident involving the Saudi tanker "Sidr" that resulted in crew fatalities. The editorial highlighted the inseparable link between maritime security and regional stability, emphasizing the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz unconditionally to protect global economic interests.

Qatar's leadership continues to advocate for an immediate and complete cessation of attacks, urging restraint and a serious return to negotiations. This stance reflects a broader understanding of the region's needs, calling for respect for sovereignty, international law, and diplomatic agreements.
