Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Least Developed Countries

Doha:The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting global development and aiding least developed countries (LDCs) in achieving sustainable growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial, published in Al Raya newspaper, emphasized Qatar's development initiatives, which extend beyond humanitarian assistance to include areas such as healthcare, education, food security, and women's empowerment.

The editorial highlighted comments from HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali Al Misnad, who urged accelerated international efforts to tackle structural challenges faced by LDCs. It also stressed the significance of the Doha Programme of Action for 2022-2031 in advancing sustainable development and supporting these countries in their quest for lasting progress.

Qatar is set to host a high-level midterm review of the program in March 2027, which will provide a platform to assess progress, identify implementation gaps, and convert international commitments into tangible outcomes. The newspaper also underscored the necessity for increased development financing, concessional loans, sustainable investment, and enhanced cooperation with international financial institutions to ensure long-term development.
